Greek singer and performer who had a string of international hit records as a solo performer in the 1970s after having been a member of Aphrodite's Child, a progressive rock group that also included the well renowned Vangelis. Roussos participated in a series of musical groups beginning with The Idols when he was 17, where he met Evangelos Papathanassiou (later known as Vangelis) and Loukas Sideras, his future band mates in Aphrodite's Child. After this he joined We Five (not the San Francisco, California folk-rock group), another cover band which had limited success in Greece. He came to a wider audience in 1967 when he joined progressive rock band Aphrodite's Child, with Vangelis and Sideras, initially as a singer but later also playing bass guitar, achieving big commercial success in France and other parts of Europe from 1968 to 1972. His distinctive operatic vocal style helped propel the band to international notoriety, notably on their final album 666, which became a progressive rock cult classic. Roussos also began a solo career with the song "We Shall Dance" in 1971. Initially unsuccessful, he toured around Europe and soon became a leading artist. His solo career peaked in the 1970s with several hit albums. His single "Forever And Ever" topped the charts in several countries in 1973 (1976 in U.K.). Other hits were "My Friend The Wind", "My Reason", "Velvet Mornings", "Goodbye My Love, Goodbye", "Someday Somewhere" and "Lovely Lady Of Arcadia".

He is best known for his Academy Award-winning score for the film Chariots of Fire, composing scores for the films Antarctica, Blade Runner, 1492: Conquest of Paradise and Alexander, and the use of his music in the PBS documentary Cosmos: A Personal Voyage by Carl Sagan. Spencer cought my attention when i was watching a movie on T.V. called "The old man and the sea". I was only 5 years of age, and the movie stayed with me untill this day. Spence was a natural actor, never forgeting his lines on the set, and memorized his line just reading the script only once, he had a photographic memory. Born in Milwuakee,WI. Spence picked up acting in his collage years, and traveled in school playes. He tried broadway and liked it, he also met his futuer wife, Louise Treadwell. George M. Cohan, a prodoucer, was at a broadway show called "The last mile" where spence cought his eye, and asked Spence to Holywood to star in a movie, opposite Humphry Bogart, another newcomer, called "Up the river". Spence agreed and that started one of thee greatest actor carrer. Staring in 74 motion pictures, Spence carved himself in the history of movies, beieng called "an actors actor". After filming, his last film to be,1967 "Guess who's coming to dinner", Spence past away. Leaving a legacy of memorable roles, which until this day, can't be mached.
